Weekend Studio Madness, Under the Sea Swap & Journal Workshop

Good Morning my Little Blog Friends out there in Blog Land... Welcome to my Weekend Studio Madness! I have noticed that there is a theme going on for my Weekend Posts here on Sunday... and that theme is...I think I drink WAY TOOOOOO MUCH JAVA! LOL Okay, let's ROCK AND ROLL...!!!!!

I participated in the "Under The Sea Swap" that the every so lovely Zan from http://wildatheartart.blogspot.com/2009/04/under-sea-swap.html, so graciously put together for the many artists that participated in this SWAP. I was very excited when Zan emailed and told me that my swap partner, was Nicole Johnson from MealyMonsterLand! Nicole I received my ever so funny, and wonderful sea creature you created for me! I have to tell you that I absolutely love this little guy and he is sitting in my studio right next to me! I love the colors you used on this little guy! Thank you so much for creating this amazing piece for me! I will cherish it forever!

For Nicole, I created an Eclectic Being Mermaid...Here she is!

I have started some Summer Workshops and this is just one that I'm working on. Monica over at www.handsandheart.ning.com is offering some fabulous workshops and I will be spending time this Summer working on some of her workshops. I really want to concentrate on my drawing and painting this Summer!

JOURNAL WORKSHOP - TUTORIAL

I will be posting different techniques that I have been learning. They are so easy and you will really enjoy this process. I'm having a blast with creating and altering books...it's very addicting...but then again, isn't anything that is art related addicting? LOL For this process, grab an old book that you don't mind painting in and getting it really messy...Instead of gluing the pages together to give you a thicker page, I used masking tape and taped 3 or 4 pages together... It's less time then waiting for the glue to dry and I have noticed that my pages don't buckle as much.

Take words, photos, etc... and lay them into the Gesso. Then put a thin layer of Gesso right over the words so you can see some of the words.

After your Gesso is dried, start adding Cran D'ache, water colors, acrylics, etc.. In this example I used the water colored crayons (by the way, these are freaking awesome!!!!)
Now use water and mix them all together...You will see such dreamy colors on your page! Have fun and show us your pages!

I have been working on my Folk Art Dolls. Let me tell you, these gals are very time consuming, but so worth the effort and wait! Here they are with their gesso applied!

Yes, I sew too! LOL My sewing machine last night was in overdrive!

Here they are completed...They are having a group chat!
The really cool thing about these Folk Art Dolls, they can hang on the wall or you can have them sitting. They are approx. from head to foot 19 inches tall.

This "Pinkle" and she will be staying with me...WHY you ask? Well, SHE IS PINK...NEED I SAY MORE? LOL

I hope you all had a great weekend. I'm in the Studio today working on some workshop assignments and playing with my paint, oh and sculpting some more dolls...Stay tuned for updates on my workshops and some other things I'm designing and working on.

Until Next time...

Tag Swap Book Arrived!

Hello everyone...I just had to share this with all of you! I got home today after work and found my Tag Swap Book waiting to be opened. I joined the Tag Swap over at Nancye's Art Dolls http://www.nancyesartdolls.ning.com/ and Ms. Nancye really out did herself with putting all of these tags together from the various artists that participated in this Tag Swap. Just look at what Ms. Nancye did for us and check out the artists' tags...Just Beautiful! Thank You Nancye for your creative hand in this wonderful Book!

This Tag Book is just absolutely beautiful and what a gift. If you get a chance to join in on a Tag Swap, DO IT! hmmmmmm now there is an idea...I might have to put something together here. MAKE IT BIG, FUN, ROCKING...I can just see Sonia rocking out to "PINK" while she is designing her TAG! Let me think about this. If you all have any ideas, please let me know or if you would be interested in doing this. I think this could be a lot of FUN...WHOOHOOO!

A Snapper & Holiday Weekend Madness!

Happy Holiday Weekend Everyone! I hope you all had a beautiful, safe, productive, creative weekend. As for Weekend Madness in the Studio...did some things but not as much as you guys are used to seeing...and here is why...
Meet Mr. Snapper...yip...we had a little visitor that strolled up from the creek. Fortunately we got him back down to his watering hole. How the heck he made it up from creek is beyond me. It must have taken him a month! LOL My husband brought over the John Deer and Mr. Snapper got a ride back down to the creek! As my husband was taking Mr. Snapper back to the creek, I wanted to show you how fast the Wheat is growing! I can't wait until the fall when this is all brown and we have the windows opened to hear the wrestling sounds of the Wheat!

As for what I did this weekend...Take a Peek...

WE CLEANED THE ENTIRE PORCH AND POWER WASHED EVERYTHING!
This is the Side of the House. See that Truck...I think if I lived near Caroline, her and Phil would be on that so fast...especially for what's inside...Sorry Caroline & Phil...the truck is going to my Sister-in-Law to be used for her Halloween Festivities! LOL

I didn't even get to my flowers or veggies...I guess they will have to wait until next weekend...I need lots of potting soil! Oh Boy... A CLEAN PORCH! As I'm typing this blog post, my husband is putting all the crap that you saw on the lawn back...I must hurry back down there to make sure it's just right! LOL

Now, I couldn't let the weekend go by without getting some type of art work done. However, I managed to stay up all night on Friday into Saturday and finished my "Gossip Girls" which I posted on Saturday, but in the weeeee hours at night, I was busy working on some journal pages.

I am also preparing for an upcoming workshop that I will be taking with Monica over at www.handsandheart.ning.com, and she gave us some homework before we start the workshops. Here is my book that I will be using for my painting classes.

If you like a watercolor effect on your pages, try using Golden's Absorbent Ground. It's wonderful!

Getting my Paints ready.

I'm also involved over at www.evbstudiohome.ning.com with Marie. We started our workshop entitled Painting on Air Dry Clay. If you love working with Air Dry Clays, this a must take workshop. It's so worth it!

Still can't figure out how to make this picture go the other way! LOL

Well that about concludes my Holiday Weekend...I hope you all enjoyed your visit with me and until next time...here are my PINK SNEAKERS...saying ....

CHEERS!
